September 20

The children went to the Avon Lake Library last Monday and participated in a class on living and non-living things. The children learned about how to categorize living and nonliving things, planted some seeds and tried to pick up bird food using different utensils. The utensils were to simulate different styles of birds beaks and how different birds would eat different food. Not only did the children learn a lot, they showed what they know are by answering questions and sharing their knowledge. They are a smart bunch!! Below are pictures from the event!

September 13, 2015

My first graders are off to a fabulous start! Despite the heat the children have worked hard and have done a great job for me. The children have gotten to know their new classmates, and the routines and expectations of our class. I know this will be a wonderful year!
In Math, we have begun the year reviewing addition, subtraction and story problems. I like to use games as a way to practice math. Not only are the children up and moving, that are interacting with each other and having Fun! On Friday, we celebrated Hero Day. Below you will see pictures of some of our math games and Hero Day....scratch that...I did have pictures on my phone but as I was downloading them, my phone turned off and I lost them. They were really cute!
